Classes

PRESCHOOL

Preschoolers: CSDC's youngest dancers

enjoy a class designed just for their age, ability and attention span.  They learn the basics in ballet and tap.  Special emphasis is placed on right-and-left activities, improving coordination and flexibility and encouraging creativity and musicality.

MODERN/LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

This class is a great contrast to Ballet which requires control and rigid body positions.  By contrast, Modern/Lyrical/Contemporary dance teaches the student to move with abandon and great power.

Ballet

CSDC recognizes ballet as the most important field of study.  The correct body alignment, strength and flexibility learned in ballet will greatly aid the dancer in all other dance disciplines.  We so firmly believe this that all CSDC students are required to learn the terminology and to study ballet in order to study any other dance discipline.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical expressed through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

Jazz

Jazz is fast paced and fun! Jazz dance enhances flexibility and core strength.  Jazz pirouettes and leaps are among the skills learned.

HIP-HOP

Hip-Hop is also fast pacede and fun. Hip Hop focuses on musicality and presentation and is fun for all ages! CSDC also offers an "ALL-BOY" Hip Hop Class!

TAP

Tap work will give the student stamina, a better sense of rhythm, and enhance their performance skills.

CLOGGING

Clogging is a percussive step-dance, danced to the down-beat with the heel keeping time. Utilizing fast-paced, intricate foot work coupled with choreographed upper body and arm movements, clogging offers a total body workout.

COMPETITON

The competitve teams are made up of the most dedicated and serious students. Our instructors will be glad to discuss your child’s potential and answer any questions you might have.  As a member of one of our competition teams, students are expected to take the required classes, attend extra rehearsals, and participate in several competitions throughout the dance season. Please understand that teams are selected based on their dance skills and technique level rather than their age.
Competition is not a recreational dance program; this is a training program for young dancers that are very serious about their dance training.
